Al-Akhbar Lebanese newspaper revealed Saturday that the Lebanese Army [LA] called the public prosecution to take legal action against "Future" bloc MP Moein al-Merehbi on charges of inciting sectarian strife.
The daily further clarified that Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn signed Tuesday the case that was later transferred to the public prosecution.
"The LA charged al-Merehbi with incitement to murder the LA's chief when he said that the blood of the LA's commander is not more precious than the blood of Sheikh Abdul Wahid," the paper revealed.
It also mentioned that "the LA accused the man of libeling, slandering as well as inciting sedition and sectarian language."
In parallel, the acting public prosecutor Samir Hammoud is scheduled to send early next week a memorandum to the Justice Minister Chakib Cortbawi, to be later transferred to House Speaker Nabih Berri.
Berri is then to transfer the memorandum to the Parliament's Bureau which will held it session with the Management and Justice Committee as a joint body to study the issue and raise its report within two weeks.
In case the joint committee doesn't issue its decision within the scheduled time, the issue becomes in the custody of the Parliament's General Assembly which has the right to lift the immunity with the normal majority.
