"Israeli" Estimate: An Iranian Nuclear Bomb, within a Year
Channel 7 - Shimon Cohen

"Will the new U.S. sanctions on Iran lead to a significant change in Iran's readiness to deal softly with the West? There's a very large doubt. Actually, Americans believe that change will take place by the force of sanctions, but Dr. Efraim Escolai, an expert in Iranian affairs in the Institute for National Security Studies questions a lot of these estimates. He has clarified his position on the issue during an interview with Channel 7.

Dr. Escolai recalled at the beginning, the recurrent series of sanctions imposed so far on the Iranians, whether by the Security Council of the United Nations or by the United States of America and the West, he said, "we have not seen so far that the Iranians are prepared to deal softly in crucial topics, although the West is ready to show flexibility, but Iranians haven't changed."

Escolai proposed several possibilities about the motivation that leads to the Iranian intransigence, and the first possibility is the Iranian's ambition to reach a quick production capacity of a nuclear weapon, and they don't intend to relinquish this ambition easily. He also reminded of the Iranian national pride. As he also talked of two indicators "the concession to the West without anything in return is out of question for their part, and the sanctions are not tough enough."
Recently many reports about the statements of many regime officials were published in the media, which wonder if the Iranian people are able to withstand the sanctions of the West. An Islamic motive is also included in these reports,
which strengthens the spirit of the people.

Dr. Escolai estimated that the ability of withstanding the sanctions is very much related to the internal politics in Iran. He said, "Iran's economy is really linked to the export of oil, but as a large country it is able to rely on its own capabilities. It produces food and so on. The question is "to what extent the citizens will be patient?" Escolai doubts the ability of Iranian people to make a rebellion and a coup against the religious regime. However, the current open media will allow following the internal developments in Iran minute-by-minute, including a civilian revolt of this kind.

Regarding the Iranian nuclear capability, Escolai preferred not to mention the term "moment of no return" that have been repeated over and over for several years, but according to his estimate, the Iranians could produce a nuclear bomb within a year. "The major issue is about the ability that has changed since a year or year and a half." "Today they can possess a nuclear weapon. And they have all the capacity and means. The question is how quick they can achieve this and how much bombs they can produce? As long as they continue their enrichment, their technology is growing."

Regarding the issue of a hidden nuclear weapon, according to various reports, this can launch a war or halt the "Israeli" attack, and Escolai preferred to leave this issue to the political-security system.

Developing Arrow missiles against Iranian, Syrian and Hizbullah Missiles
Military affairs analyst in Channel 2, Nir Devori said that the Iranian rocket Fateh 110 is capable of threatening the U.S. facilities and bases in the Gulf and also the neighboring countries of Iran. Such a model is found with Syria and Hizbullah too. But it must be said that this model, which Iran was showing its pictures is not new and not sophisticated. Experts who analyzed these pictures indicated that this is not new and it is more like an Iranian psychological war. It seems that the Iranians are very pressured under the present siege, these are photos from the past and things we saw as part of the messages.
Devori added that the Iranians are busy with a psychological war against the United States.

The U.S. has an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf and bases in neighboring countries, and this is part of a very comprehensive and wide war -and yes this is part of the diplomatic psychological warfare we have seen recently.
With regard to the "Israeli" Arrow missile 4, and whether it is considered a response to the Iranian Fateh 110 missile, Devori said that the security establishment did something we were not used to before, where it summoned a number of newspapers, including foreign newspapers, to reveal this information from external sources and not directly from the Ministry of Defense. They spoke about the upgrades made to the Arrow system, and it must be said that the upgrades of the Arrow system in the last two years were to deal with the Shihab, Scud and ballistic missiles of Iran and Syria. This interceptor missile "Arrow" went through a series of changes and developments; its radar detection is too large, and it is able to access the remote outer space in order to destroy missiles and shoot them down there.

"They may have adjusted it as well in order to intercept long and medium term rockets M600, Zelzal and Fateh 110, which we have seen, but its main role as we have said is to intercept the Shihab and Scud missiles. "
