Head of the Arab Tawhid Party Wiam Wahhab confirmed the information regarding the assassination attempt that had been prepared against him.
In an interview with "al-Akhbar" Lebanese daily, Wahhab unveiled that " a Lebanese person has received money to carry the assassination by firing on my convoy inside the Syrian territories."

" The suspect has been arrested," Wahhab revealed, noting that "the man confessed he received promises and money to perform the assassination on behalf of Lebanese party."

However, he denied that "Future Movement" has any connection to the issue.
"The confessions are documented in videotapes proving that the suspected is linked to his operators; these explain the conditions of the operation's implementation and its mechanisms," the former minister added.
In parallel, Wahhab refused to give further details on the operation, the sponsor side, or the suspect until the right time.

He also promised to soon hand all the information to the Lebanese security services in order to undertake investigations so that the full circumstances are revealed.

He also expressed his confidence in both the Lebanese security services and judiciary.

Meanwhile, security sources informed the same daily that Wahhab told some Lebanese sides that "a suspect was arrested and that the man admitted that a Progressive Socialist Party official recruited him to assassinate Wahhab."
"He asked the suspect to carry the operation within the Syrian territories so that the suspect's identity is lost," Wahhad added and quoted the suspect as saying: "The PSP official tasked him had been wounded in the May 2008 clashes in the Barouk region."

However, the security sources stressed "an endeavor like this happens without PSP leader MP Walid Jumblatt's knowledge."
They further linked this event to the security precautions adopted by Jumblatt.
The sources declined to reveal whether the suspect is in Lebanese or Syrian custody.
