Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud condemned the "Lebanese" campaigns targeting the Lebanese army, stating that they are strictly rebuffed and hold underneath their folds attempts to restore events that once blundered the country, people, and state institutions.

Lahoud confirmed that the Lebanese Army in Akkar, and every area in Lebanon, is stationed on its land and among its people. He further indicated, "The Lebanese Army's fighting doctrine is based in a healthy way on the basis of knowing the enemy; i.e. the "Israeli" enemy and terrorism, to protect the land, people, and impose security and stability in the Cedar Country."
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lahoud stressed that every campaign targeting the Army is actually targeting the only institution that embraces all the Lebanese people without any exceptions. He also recalled how the Army cooperated with the resistance in liberating the occupied territories [in 2000] and in the July victory [in 2006].

Moreover, Lahoud iterated that the Lebanese army deployment on the northern borders with Syria is a must, in order to prevent arms smugglings and armed groups' illegal movements, which would strike Syria's stability.

Commenting on the latest blatant US campaigns to interfere in the Syrian affairs through Lebanon, Lahoud asserted, "Any soldier in the Lebanese Army embraces all guarantees to deter people like [Jeffrey] Feltman or [Joseph] Lieberman, [John] McCain and others who brought Lebanon to conflict."
