HFC Launches 2012 Awareness Campaign
Channel 7 - Shlomo Piotrowski
The Home Front Command launched a new campaign on Sunday, which will focus on the subject of the home front's preparedness for an emergency, specifically on earthquakes with the slogan "Home Front Takes Command".
This year's campaign, the fourth of its kind, focuses on preparation of the home, the family, and the surrounding for an emergency situation. The Home Front Command will publish information in many languages, directed toward various sectors of the population - including Arabs, ultra-Orthodox Jews, children, and people with special needs. This year, the Home Front Command has decided to emphasize public preparedness for an earthquake.
Accordingly, this year's central exercises will focus on preparation for such a scenario. The largest of these exercises is a simulation of a magnitude 6.0 earthquake, which is slated to take place in October. September, which has been selected as Home Front Preparedness Month, will see further efforts to raise awareness. Among other steps, the Home Front Command will provide every household in "Israel" with a guidebook on how to prepare for emergencies.
The ad campaign is being managed by McCann Erickson.

US Army General Dempsey: Military Drill with "Israel" set for Fall
Ynetnews
US and "Israel's" large joint military exercise was rescheduled to take place in months of October or November, Army General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said.
"We rescheduled it for October-November time frame," Dempsey said. "I really don't know what the final decision was, but it is our expectation that that's when the event will occur."
In January "Israeli" sources said that the exercise was postponed for professional considerations, for both armies were not ready to implement such a large maneuver at that time. The U.S. media reported that the delay was upon "Israel's" request.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported that "Israel" asked to put off the exercise because of defense budget cuts. News site "Yahoo", quoting sources in the US administration reported that the request for postponement came directly from the defense minister, Ehud Barak, who traveled yesterday in another visit to the United States ".
US Department of Defense spokesman, Jean Kirby, said January that the postponement of the exercises is very normal. He added that the maneuver, which was postponed, will be held in the second half of the year 2012. "
