"Israel": Mofaz Meets Abbas Next Sunday in Ramallah

Channel 2 - Audi Siegel

Channel 2 revealed yesterday that a meeting will be held next Sunday between PA president, Mahmoud Abbas and deputy prime minister, Shaul Mofaz, and the channel reported from Palestinian sources that this meeting will be held in Ramallah.
According to Audi Siegel, the political affairs analyst at the channel, this meeting comes after the mediation of MK Yisrael Hassoun of Kadima, and the lawyer Yitzhak Molcho.

Seigel noted that Mofaz's message to Abbass urges him about the need to exploit the large governmental coalition in "Israel", which includes 94 MKs, and forms the right opportunity to push forward the political process between the two parties.

Police Commissioner: Right to Protest Doesn't Include Violation of Property

Ma'ariv

"These incidents are unlike those of last summer", said Danino, "they ask what happened? Nothing, the general director of the police hasn't changed, nor did the policy. They asked what was our patent and how did we succeed in overcoming the demonstrations of last year? That was due to perceptiveness of everyone."

The Police commissioner slammed the criticisms addressed to the police, "they are pointing at us, but there is nothing more misleading than this. We are allowing a legitimate demonstration to take place. I am not ignoring the terrible images we saw at the end of last week, we know how to receive criticism and test ourselves." According to Danino, police representatives will meet in the upcoming days with the demonstration leaders to coordinate the continuity of the protests. Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch, firmly rejected the allegations about a governmental order to halt the protests, and called them "nonsense". There is no order from above to stop the demonstrations, everyone knows that there's a separation of branches. The demonstrations' leadership is seeking to exploit the large numbers that accumulated during the past days to organize another protest next Saturday in the courtyard of Tel Aviv's Museum.

We will not stop protesting

Senior sources in the leadership of the protests said yesterday they hope that the social needs will be back on the agenda and hoped to see more than 10 thousand protestors. One of the leaders said that chances are big, due to the police and the municipality monitors' conduct against the activists." Many of those who stopped participating for a long time will be back to protest", he said. "we will not stop protesting against social injustice and we will fight for a decent budget. ""Israel" is not in a good shape, and we the citizens will go out to the streets to straighten it."

Yesterday, several tens of youth from "Youth of Revolution" organization protested before the municipality of Tel Aviv, and one of young activists (14 years old) said, " we are protesting against the injustice of the population, and we, same as the adults, demand things to be improved, but we also demand helping the youth, preventing child labor, and improving the quality of life for the youth in "Israel"."

Dismantling or Transferring the Bedouin Battalion from Gaza

Channel 7 - Yedidya Ben Orr

"The Bedouin battalion must be dismantled or transferred to a different region," MK Ayoub Kara (Likud) declared Tuesday. The Druze MK said the move is necessary "to change the routine... and also to prevent Bedouin soldiers and trackers from getting into bad situations."

Deputy Minister Ayoub Kara said those harsh words, yesterday (Tuesday) in Pkiein, in response to what was published about the Bedouin battalion soldiers being arrested because of drug trafficking in exchange for cooperation with Hamas.

The deputy minister was invited to Pekein by the local tourists who complained about depriving the Jewish tourists from local businesses, the thing that might lead to an economic collapse due to the events of 2007. The Deputy Minister pledged to support the promotion of Pkiein positively in "Israel" and the world, and to guarantee the liberalization of abandoned property of the Jewish Agency for the benefit of local tourism, and convert it to a place that will usher in coexistence, peace and mutual respect between all communities.

The Deputy Minister said at the end of the tour, that Rabbi Shimon Bar Yuhay was chased by the people in his era, but the Druze welcomed him, and he wrote here one of the most important books. There is no reason in the world to not be the most important place after the City of Jerusalem.

Mursi and "Israel"

"Israel" Hayom - Yossi Beilin

We cannot accept the news of electing of Mohammed Mursi the president of Egypt as joyous good news. But if our first response was to enter fortified bunkers and predict what is coming, that would be a serious mistake. "Israel" is not only a negative player in the new tracks of the Middle East, but it should also exert efforts to ensure that its image won't incline against its interests. How? Here are some possible choices:

1- Reach Mursi, the perimeters of his workplace, and the people soon to be appointed ministers and assistants, and show how we see the relations between these two countries and where we can help the Egyptian interests. At the same time, we can better understand how the Muslim Brotherhood sees the situation during its governing term, not only when it preaches in the fields.

2- Use the influence of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. administration to ensure that Mursi understands that if he was interested in close ties with the United States (without it, he will not be able to respond even to a part of the expectations of the public who elected him) - he'll have to be to preserve the peace agreement with "Israel". He must not only be prevented from launching a popular poll regarding the peace agreement, but it must be guaranteed that the agreement does not become a truce and ensure the movement of people and goods on both sides of the border will be continued so as aviation movements and such.

3- Foster relations with the close surroundings, the Palestinians, the Jordanians and the Turks. The situation of "Israel" facing the three largest Muslim countries in our region - Egypt, Turkey and Iran - is a strategic situation that is not allowed to happen. We must immediately restore with the Turks, Ciechanover reconciliation and close the wretched issue of "Marmara", and we must be wiser here since we are right and try to improve the relations with Turkey as much as possible. The main activity with Jordan is the progress in the political process with the PLO, it is a central interest of Jordan, and a vital "Israeli" interest.

4- The talks with the PLO, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, should be renewed as soon as possible, and especially after invalidating a number of conditions stipulated by the Palestinian leader to hold a "dialogue". It is desirable that dialogue leads us to a permanent settlement, but it is difficult to assume that the current government would be willing to pay for a permanent settlement. Yet, this partial settlement that will lead to a permanent settlement afterwards is more practical. This settlement should lead to a Palestinian state with temporary borders with a vision to address the permanent settlement and a timetable leading to it.

5- Talks can be carried out with the Palestinians on the land of Egypt. It will be a challenge that raises the attention of the new Egyptian authority and perhaps this gives Egypt a political accomplishment.

It is not enough to guard Al-Ahram to bring 20 million tourists, but Sinai must be free of terrorism, because when a tourist hears of bombings in Egypt he will not examine the map to check in what street in Cairo the explosive device blasted, but he will call to cancel his flight. Mursi, who speaks in the name of all the Muslim Brotherhood and the new regime in Egypt backs the Palestinian rights, but not at the expense of Egypt. Terrorism in Sinai will cause Egypt to pay a heavy price; even if it was for a "sacred goal" and even if it is directly implemented by Hamas or indirectly, in spite of the fact that Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Israel" and Hamas are not negotiating the economic development or strategic cooperation with Egypt, but there is an automatic agreement between "Israel" and Hamas; they shoot and shoot back until Egypt intervenes to imprison both parties and put them back in their cages, that was the case in a period of Hosni Mubarak, and so was the last clash.
But when Egypt is governed by a government and president of the Muslim Brotherhood, it is important at least to try to reach common understandings that are more effective.

There is no need for Hamas to recognize "Israel" as a Jewish state as it is not necessary for Mursi to register his wife in the "Women of Hadassah" organization to hold a joint dialogue. It will be enough if Mursi and Netanyahu agreed to remove the siege on Gaza and open the crossings under the new joint control of Hamas, representatives of the European Union and Egypt. We should start working on such an agreement before the new Government of Egypt applies its own initiative to open again the crossing of the goods and end this harsh shift that doesn't benefit the security of "Israel" and destroys its position in the world. Then, "Israel" will cry out loud saying that Egypt does not respect the agreements, but we should remember that Egypt has not signed the crossings agreement and that "Israel" is still able to reach an agreement with Egypt.

These are few examples only, among the chances offered by the new regime in Egypt. But a party on the "Israeli" side should begin to talk, not only
moves his head and "appreciates and respects."
