Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in the Venezuelan capital Caracas on Friday, and was received by his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez.
Ahmadinejad's visit to Venezuela is the last stop of his tour to three Latin American countries; Bolivia, and Brazil where he attended the Rio+20 summit.

Upon arriving in Caracas, Ahamdinejad and Chavez held a meeting, during which the heads of both countries asserted that their nations seek to progress in the global race for resistance, away from imperialist domination.
On this level, Ahmadinejad stressed that the freedom-seeking nations will certainly be the principle winners of this race.

Underscoring the close Iranian-Venezuelan relation, Ahmadinejad vowed that his country will remain on the side of the Venezuelan nation and its brave President Hugo Chavez. He further noted, "The geographical distance will never hinder the solidarity, cooperation and unified action between Iran and Venezuela in a joint front."

For his part, President Chavez dubbed Iran "an influential and significant country in the international scene," rebuffing unilateral anti-Iran threats and sanctions.
In this context, Chavez denounced the Western-led sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, and reiterated his country's full support for Iran.
Iran and Venezuela have for long been united in an "axis of unity" against US imperialism, showing solidarity and cooperation in opposition to the US-"Israeli" domination in the region and world.
