Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud addressed in a statement issued on Wednesday, the ongoing clashes taking place in Tripoli and Syria, also the issue of Lebanese public spending.

He stressed that "the situation in Tripoli is rebuffed at all standards, and the morale of the security administrations and the armed forces cannot be violated."
"The courageous national army will not wait for narrow political accounts especially when it's related to the country's and citizens' security, or to responding to the attacks it's being subjected to; that is because its duty is strictly national," Lahoud asserted.

In this context, Lahoud iterated, "The presence of arms witnessed in Tripoli confirmed that weapons are present in their wrong position and status; which threatens the country's stability, especially if the security and judiciary [displayed] complete union and cooperation, in accordance to applied laws and regulations."

Regarding the public spending file, Lahoud confirmed that "the awaited solution revolves in an "emptied hoop", because the politicians do not seek a solution for this issue in accordance to applied constitutional and legal regulations. However; they [politicians] seek fake compromises; as if the public money was their own."
