Barak: to Prepare to Face the Extreme Scenarios in Land Day
Source: Walla website - Amir Bouhbot

The "IDF" and "Israeli" Police went on high alert Thursday and canceled weekend leave for thousands of soldiers and policemen ahead of the Global March to "Jerusalem" planned to begin Friday along "Israel's" borders.

"Defense" Minister Ehud Barak ordered the "IDF" to prepare for a wide range of violent scenarios that could break out along the borders, and military sources said that "troops were under orders to use force to prevent infiltrations."
Preparations are taking place along all of "Israel's" fronts. The "IDF" announced Thursday night that Barak ordered West Bank crossings closed for a 24-hour period.

Similarly, large numbers of police and border police forces were deployed in and around "Moshav Avivim" near the Lebanese border Friday morning ahead of expected protests.
According to estimates inside the "Israeli" security establishment, Friday will include demonstrations and sit-ins in the West Bank and the Lebanese border based on encouragement from Iran and its Revolutionary Guards.

Another point that requires the attention of the "Israeli" army is the Gaza Strip, although military sources assure that Hamas controls the situation. Moreover, public reports ruled out the possibility of organizing demonstrations in the Erez area, as happened in the past. Demonstrations will take place in the heart of Gaza City.
Operational orders had been sent to the various fronts. The general assessment in the "IDF" is that the protests will mostly be peaceful, but there is concern that isolated acts of violence could quickly escalate and spread to the other protests.
"Israeli" Northern Command is also preparing for the scenario that extreme Palestinian sides foment unrest along the borders, especially with the decline of Syrian regime control on Golan Heights.

On the other northern side of the border, the Lebanese Armed Forces and police were also out in force along the border and at the Beaufort castle, where some 4,000 protesters are expected later in the day.
An "Israeli" security source said: "We are aware of Iranian attempts to heat up the border between Lebanon and "Israel" via demonstrations," pointing out that "he did not expect the occurrence of any violence, though the "Israeli" army is ready to extreme scenarios."

Protests are expected to break out in several Palestinian cities in the West Bank and at the Kalandiya crossing to Ramallah, north of "Jerusalem". Officers from the "Civil Administration" were in touch this week with their Palestinian counterparts in an effort to contain the protests and prevent them from escalating.
Moreover, the Northern and Southern Commands have deployed extra forces along the borders with Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip together with riot gear to prevent border infiltrations.
Government officials assured that ""Israel" is ready for any eventuality."

Brigades Will be Resolved from Givati for Abusing Soldiers.
Source: Walla website- Amir Bouhbot

Following the developments in the case of abusing soldiers in the Givati Brigade, it was reflected that the brigade commander, Colonel Ofer Livni, planned to disband the Lahoud squadron and that related to Zbar battalion.

Livni planned also to distribute ex-combatants on other squadrons in an aim to root out the tradition of ill-treating young soldiers and the humiliating ceremonies that have appeared recently.
Military sources reported that the Colonel has so far declined from taking radical steps because the military police investigation is still standing.

Meanwhile, the military police investigators, who are responsible for the investigation of abusing soldiers in the Givati Brigade, deepened their investigation in the case of the operational squadron. They are also performing adversarial confrontations between the deputy company commander and the fighters.
The confrontations were conducted based on soldiers' allegations that the Deputy Commander knew of the humiliating ceremonies, giving the soldiers legitimacy and even was involved in a number of these actions.

In one of the interviews, the deputy commander reiterated his claim that he was neither involved in this case nor knew of it. However, the soldier wept and rushed to face him by saying: "Aren't you ashamed of lying. You are more than a father and mother for me. I am ready to undergo a lie detector test."

However, the Deputy Commander remained firm on his allegations, but the soldier added that "he secretly pictured from the back how the Deputy Commander beat him."

"IDF" Assessing Tactical Radar
"Israel Defense" - Amir Raparport

The "IDF" is currently assessing the US-produced LCMR radar that is capable of detecting rockets, mortars, and low-altitude aircraft.
The Head of the Radar Detection Department at the "IDF's" Computer Services Directorate, Major Ben Zion Levy, unveiled that the "IDF" has begun to look into integrating LCMR radar.

Maj. Levy spoke at the Technology on Tuesday conference held several days ago at the C4I Corps memorial in "Yehud".
According to Maj. Levy, the "IDF" began the process of procuring the radar three years ago, and recently began to use it in order to examine its integration into the corps' layout.

The portable radar can locate standard and improvised mortars launched at towns, patrols, and "IDF" facilities.
In addition, the radar can be used in scenarios in which "IDF" troops enter enemy territory. The radar can alert soldiers to mortars launched at them, giving soldiers time to take cover.
The radar, originally developed for the US Army, weighs less than 55 kg and can even detect low altitude aircraft.

The procurement of this radar is part of the larger "IDF" trend to procure radars for tactical purposes.
Maj. Levy stressed that "the "IDF" would be happy to examine similar Israeli-produced radars if any were available."
