Imam Khamenei: Iranian Elections Slap in Face of Global Arrogance
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei predicted a high turnout in Iran's upcoming parliamentary elections. He described the event as yet another firm slap in the face of the global arrogance.
Reiterating the significance of a large voter turnout in the 9th parliamentary elections, the Imam said on Wednesday that the Iranian nation will display their firm determination to enemies of the country.
In Friday's elections, said Imam Khamenei, the Iranian nation will serve another blow to the face of hegemonic powers that would be even harder than the one delivered on February 11 during rallies marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution throughout the country.
Addressing a huge crowd of visiting people in the capital Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iranian voters will demonstrate their determination and will power to enemies so that hegemonic powers would realize that they are doomed to failure in their efforts against the Iranian nation,
The Imam pointed to Western-sponsored media publicity campaigns to dissuade Iranians from taking part in the elections and said the high turnout of voters will deal a heavy blow to global hegemony.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Friday's vote was much more important than previous elections as enemies had invested all their remaining energy in the March 2 elections.
Over 48 million Iranian voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the 9th parliamentary elections on March 2. In the elections, more than 3,400 candidates are competing for the 290 seats in Majlis.
