Lahoud: Syrian New Constitution, Base of Political Reform in Syria
Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud praised the interaction of the governmental work in Lebanon, especially in light of the current local and regional circumstances. Lahoud also called on the Lebanese government to allocate the people's livelihood affairs, and have them on the top of their priorities.
In a statement issued by his media bureau, Lahoud referred to the many files piled up in the cabinet, especially the appointments and budget files, saying that the best way to resolve them is adopting constitutional and legal mechanisms.
Regarding the situation in Syria, former President Lahoud congratulated the Syrian people for the fundamental accomplishment achieved through the referendum on the new constitution, "which represents the base of political reform in Syria".
Moreover, he further congratulated Syrian President Bashar al-Assad who "was always committed to holding many responsibilities in order to maintain stability and reform against the armed attack sponsored by the enemies of the nation".
