Eye on the Enemy: ’’Israel’’ Fears This is Only the Beginning

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the alertness level in "Israeli" embassies around the world to the highest level, fearing that the double attack of yesterday (Tuesday) in New Delhi and Tbilisi is just the beginning of a wave of terrorism.

The attacks on the embassies in India and Georgia were not practically successful, but it seems that those who are behind it, more likely Iran and Hizbullah, wanted to send a signal to "Israel": Avenging the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh and Iranian nuclear scientists, is inevitable.

The two operations embodied once again the covert war ongoing since many years, beyond the borders of "Israel", between the "Israeli" security forces and the "Jerusalem" force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, with the participation of Hizbullah units.

It is assumed that Iran and Hizbullah are directly involved with the attacks. A relatively small improvised explosive device was detonated in Tbilisi, which was placed to damage the car solely; the vehicle of the embassy official was in a parking, i.e., the bomb was planted in there.

Although there were no guided intelligence data, it was decided that the day after the attacks, all "Israeli" embassies abroad will operate under stricter rules, and then, in the next few days guards will be placed around the embassies to suit the region they are in.

The attack in New Delhi and the attempted attack in Tbilisi had a similar signature: Hizbullah, together with their patrons in Tehran, were responsible for both.

Last month's attempted attacks on "Israeli" targets in Baku and Bangkok were also manufactured on the same assembly line. Hizbullah has vowed to avenge the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh. Iran, in its unique way, knows its target markets: It exports oil to China and terror to "Israel".

One could guess the reasons for these coordinated attacks on different "Israeli" targets around the globe. In Hizbullah's case it is likely vengeance for the death of the commander of its military wing. A worthy replacement has yet to be found. The recent assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientist could very well be the motivation for Tehran, especially since the same method (riding up to the target car on a motorcycle) used to assassinate its scientists was used in the New Delhi attack on the "Israeli" target.

But Shiite terror didn't start yesterday. It has hard to forget the 1992 terror attack at the "Israeli" Embassy in Argentine or the murder of the chief security officer at the "Israeli" Embassy in Ankara, Ehud Sadan that same year. Hizbullah, and its Iranian bosses, don't need a reason to attack "Israel" and its representatives. It is in their DNA.
