Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that there is no military element in the Iranian nuclear program, stressing that dialogue should be adopted to reach a peaceful resolution on the current Iranian nuclear file.

In an interview with Russia-24 TV network on Friday, Ryabkov affirmed, "We have verified data showing that there is no reliable evidence of the existence of a military component in the nuclear program of Iran".
Moreover, Ryabkov, who also fills the position of Russia's chief negotiator in the P5+1 (Permanent UN Security members), further expressed skepticism over the sanctions imposed on Iran, saying that they "have been too far".

Also, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister indicated that the powers that have already imposed the economic and political sanctions should not push for a military step against Iran, because it would for sure cause severe repercussions.
"These negotiations have always potential. Russia will continue to interact with all parties", he indicated.

This comes as the UN Security Council, under US pressure, imposed new rounds of sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear program.
