Barak: Assad's fall is a death blow to Hizbullah
“Israeli” Army website
“Defense” minister, Ehud Barak rendered a visit to "Battalion 51" of Golani brigade while executing an exercise in Golan Heights.
During the exercise, Barak spoke about the challenges facing the “Israeli” army and the combatants' performance on the field. The prime minister praised the professionalism of the one-week exercise that demonstrates the level of fighting in several scenarios and circumstances.
Chief of Staff and field commanders stressed that these drills reflect the worst circumstances and scenarios that might face the soldiers and minor field commanders. “
Many activities are done in this field, which are very important, and I thank the Chief of Staff on behalf of all the citizens,” Barak added stressing “that the situation is clam but fragile at Golan Heights at the moment.”
“Few days ago, shells and missiles were fired hundred kilometers away from here towards the east north of this place,” “defense” minister said while conferring about the missile firing drill that took place in Syria.
“It might be a show-off o f powers, but such events occur out of fear and tension not out of security,” he added.“Al-Assad's family is losing control and Assad will be toppled. I don't know if it's going to take weeks or months, but such a family that massacres its own people won't survive for long,” he considered.
“Al-Assad's fall will be the death blow of the extremist axis and it will weaken Hizbullah in Lebanon,” Barak added.
Raising the Lebanese issue, the “defense” minister stated that “the “Israeli” army is following up with the "internal developments" there.”
“Few days ago, Katyusha rockets were hit into our land. The identity of the aggressor is not known, but the Lebanese government and Hizbullah are both held responsibility,” he confirmed.
“We hope the situation will remain calm here, we will keep on training, but frankly we consider that the “Israeli” army is ready for any challenge. I am sure and confident that the army's requirements will always be met, so it can boost its troops and guarantee its preparedness and readiness in the future,” Barak noted.

Deputy PM won’t chatter about military option against Iran
Channel 1
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Dan Meridor, said that we should not chatter about the military option against the Iranian nuclear facilities, for Iran's issue is critical, and Iran's nuclear threat towards the US and “Israel” is augmenting.
“The sanctions approach that the Americans are trying to handle is important, and in this case a nuclear Iran is viewed as an evil country that threats the Arab world, the oil reserves, the Arab spring, and “Israel”, then it [The US] can do a major achievement by imposing political and economic sanctions on Iran.” Meridor stated.
Viewing that “the current sanctions are, in fact, scarce,” he added that “Iran fears imposing harsher sanctions, and had the world led by the US realized how danger a nuclear Iran can be, then I guess imposing harder and wider sanctions will be a piece of cake. I wish that these debates will push the Americans to have the position of “Israel”. We'll wait and see.”

“Israeli” Missile expert: next war on “Israel” will be Horrible
Army Radio
First director of the “Israeli Missile Defense Organization in the “Israeli” Ministry of Defense,” Uzi Rubin said that “the instability of the region, i.e. the Arab spring, is influencing the issue of the rockets threatening “Israel”, which is one of the displeasing outcomes of the region's events.”
“Some countries whose central commands are insecure and own loads of missiles pose a threat to “Israel”, such as Libya and Syria,” he added.
In an interview to our radio he pointed out that “the hostile Iran-led coalition has a fighting mentality based on firing rockets towards “Israel”, including ballistic missiles and so many shells.”
Unveiling that “their capabilities are developing as they are enhancing themselves,” the “Israeli” military official clarified that “their rockets are more accurate now, and we must admit that Syria's possessions are in the hands of Hizbullah too.”
He added that “the quantity of rockets forms also another distressing fact.”
"Shehab missile for example weighs 750 kg, and if you ever saw the damage caused by a 20-kg grad missile to house, then think of 750-kg missile damages,” he confirmed.
Stating that “security system's scenarios reflect that hundreds of missiles might hit “Israel” during a war, or one thousand missiles,” he expressed fear that “this means rockets fired into “Israel” will be four times more than those fired during Lebanon's war in 2006.”
“War is uneasy, and it will cause lots of damages, as it is logical to have a large death toll that I cannot estimate," he concluded.

Vilnai: Might install Iron Dome in Haifa
Yedioth Ahronoth
“Home Front Defense” Minister, Matan Vilnai stated that the security organization is thinking of installing a new battery of the "Iron Dome" system along Haifa bay in the future, in order to protect its sensitive facilities.
Vilnai statements were declared during his visit to Haifa, where he discussed with its officials the issue of refinement factories, their need to continuous fuel and their needed equipments during the time of war.
"We are examining the possibility of installing a battery of an Iron Dome system in the future, to provide full security for the refinement factories to keep on functioning at times of emergency,” he said.
“A permanent installment is eminent," he added.
The directors of factories showed Minister Vilnai the safety measures that were recently put in the facilities, and the preparedness of the workers who were trained on defying any missile attack targeting the factories. The factories' action plan during the times war was demonstrated to Vilnai as well. This action plan specified which workers will be present at work to ensure the permanence of the facility.
Haifa's refinement facility was hit by a missile during Lebanon's second war. The missile landed in an open area surrounding the facility whose products contain tons of sensitive substances.
Such an explosion could have led to the leakage of hazardous chemical substances and killed hundreds of citizens in Haifa and its suburbs. One of the workers at the harbor said, "We were saved by the divine providence, we saw the rockets landing in the facility close to the place that contains lots of sensitive substances."
