Silvan Shalom: To isolate Palestinian unity gov't

Army Radio

Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom said that there are no more disagreements between the Palestinian authority and HAMAS, but this doesn't matter. "What matters, is that the new Palestinian unity government includes is a central member that is still calling for the destruction of "Israel". We will not hold talks with a government that doesn't publicly declares its recognition of the State of "Israel", repudiates terror and acknowledges previous agreements, conditions presented by the international community. "This is not meant to happen, simply" Shalom stated.

"I don't want to take any step forward in regards to the PA," Shalom added. He said he would request from the international community to isolate a Palestinian government where Hamas shares the reins. "We are at a critical point today," Shalom told Army Radio. ""Israel" is trying to renew the peace process, but the Palestinians refuse any direct contact with us. Even in the Quartet, the situation is absurd and unacceptable, for they show no will to sit down with the "Israeli" representative or the Quartet," Shalom added, "so, the "Israeli" representative arrives alone and provides his documents on his own, and this is a long process, ever since this government took control, they thought that perhaps this is the right time to exploit the fact that this government is considered to be right-wing.

Netanyahu reiterates his call to step up sanctions against Iran

"Israel" International Channel

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that "Israel" and Egypt have a common interest to maintain their peace treaty that ensures "stability in the heart of the Middle East and free access to one of the world's most important sea lanes in reference to the Suez Canal". Netanyahu spoke at a joint press conference with his Romanian counterpart Emil Boc, reported our political affairs correspondent, Michel Dana. Regarding Iran's nuclear weapon, Netanyahu said that it's clear as crystal that Tehran is working in every way to develop nuclear weapons and the new economic sanctions on Iran announced earlier this week were "very important, but not enough." Tougher sanctions on Tehran are required, added the "Israeli" PM; more effective sanctions which affect the Iranian regime's sources of income, such as the oil industry and the Central Bank.

"Israeli"-Russian cooperation: a common interest

Walla news portal

At this time, there is great potential to enhance relations between "Israel" and Russia and it is our duty to know how to exploit it. There are several key reasons for this potential to exist. The first of these is the common interest of fighting terrorism, and radical Islamic groups. Russia has been fighting terrorism originated from Muslim countries along its southern borders. Vladimir Putin has proved how much he is determined to ruthlessly fight the terrorist threat from the south. Both countries have a common interest that terrorism should be defeated and fought against, and they should take advantage of their accumulated experience to beat terrorism.

The second reason is the end of the Cold War. Europe is stable, it has set off with a new political course, and so it ended being the zone influenced by the struggle of Russia and the United States. After the battle of the two blocs on Europe's land came to an end, the Russian - American rival became much less sensitive and it was no longer inevitable. On the other hand, the two countries are fighting radical elements that lack the means to harm them and their residents, creating identical interests between the East and the West.

Another reason is the common interest in technology, agriculture and hi - tech. Putin was the first Russian leader who understood the enormous technological potential existing in the country, and established an organization of seven billion dollars to develop technology, Nanotechnology and hi-tech. In fact, "Israel" was the second country after China, which was visited by the organization members who intended to examine the great importance that "Israel" has on the map of Russian technological interests.

In Russia there is great appreciation for the fact that "Israel" is a hi-tech state that has the potential to export knowledge and advanced techniques. Economic-technological cooperation between the two countries can yield great fruits for both. Reality allows to expand cooperation and today we have to take the chance and implement it on the ground, to be able to work together to promote common interests of both countries.
