The Stop the War Coalition (StWC), Britain's most prominent group campaigning against wars, severely condemned the West's attitude towards the Iranian peaceful nuclear program.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the StWC described the western attitude as "hypocritical and contradictory". This comes in light of recent "appalling" reports revealing that the London government is planning to support a US attack on Iran.
"The case being made for war on Iran is based on a series of speculations about 'undisclosed nuclear-related activities' reminiscent of the disproven 'intelligence' about weapons of mass destruction used to justify the disastrous attack on Iraq", the StWC statement read.

Moreover, the StWC further criticized the US and western silence regarding "the "Israeli" covert nuclear arsenal, the only one in the Middle East".
On this level, the coalition stressed that this silence, along with western sanctions imposed against Iran, reflect the US and western countries' hypocrisy.

The statement added, "Such an attitude, combined with threats of military action, can only serve to isolate and antagonize Iran". Furthermore, the British coalition also denounced the US government for arming the Gulf region, and increasing the pro-US forces deployed there.

After the disastrous consequences of the assault on Iran and Afghanistan, the coalition urged the US to reserve its "militaristic posture towards Iran", in order to ease tensions in the region.
