Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei's Stance on October 12, 2011 regarding the Occupy Wall Street movement

The issue of United States is an important one. What has been called "The Wall Street Movement" and what it has resulted in American people's excitement is important.

The same people who advocate freedom of speech and liberty, tried to downplay its importance, also now in the image they are showing of it.
Even until two or three weeks after the eruption of this movement, only one of the main U.S. newspapers had covered the story.

The others kept silence! These newspapers that when in one corner of the world -where they're opposed to their policies- a small thing happens, they magnify it a hundred times, they keep silence on such an immense movement. Then they say that they don't have any other choice. The few thousand people that were gathered in Wall Street at New York, and their mistakes in other cities and states in U.S. forced them to admit this event. Now they want to take advantage of it, but the case is a very important one.

The Occupy Wall Street Movement in the Supreme Leader’s SpeechOne issue is that the corruption of capitalism has become clear and tangible to the people. Of course this movement might be suppressed, but they cannot uproot the causes of the movement. But one day this movement will be so mature that the capitalist system of U.S. and the West will completely collapse.
Not only the corrupt capitalist system has not shown mercy over the people of Afghanistan and Iraq and other places, but they don't have mercy over their own people.

The participant of these gathering and protests of a few thousand people had a banner where it was written: "We are 99%". It means that 99% of the American population -the majority- is oppressed by one percent. The Iraq and Afghanistan war was waged by this one percent, but the killings and casualties are from the 99%. That's what has awakened the people and made them protest. Of course, the propaganda and psychological warfare methods by U.S., C.I.A. and other officials, are very brutal and heavy handed ones. They may succeed on winning over them, but finally the truth has been clarified and it will be even more clarified. However that's the real face of the capitalist system, that's the Western Liberal Democracy.

The supporters of "Israel" are the same "one percent". The American people have no motivation or interest in supporting Israel. So that they pay money, pay tax, expend money to preserve the cancerous gland of "Israel", the fake state of "Israel", in the region. And then come their way of dealing with the story; first their conservation and silence, then their violence, that we don't see even one tenth of it in dictatorial regime's dealing with their people in undeveloped countries. Then these [officials] claim human rights, freedom of speech and expression, for all people! Those who suggest to us to follow and learn capitalist regime methods, now should look at the facts. Look that what the capitalist regime is: a complete impasse. Today, the capitalist system has reached a complete impasse. The final results of this impasse may be seen years later, but the crisis in the West has completely started.

The world is in historical twist. Our dear nation, Muslim nations, great Muslim Ummah, can play a role. That's where Islam, teachings of Islam and Islam's methods can be useful for the people worldwide. And where the Islamic Republic regime can prove to all the people of the world that it can be model.
