Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that any future relations between Iran and the US would be determined by Washington's shift in attitude towards Tehran.

In an interview with Charlie Rose from the PBS Channel in the US on Thursday, President Ahmadinejad said, "American officials need to modify their attitude toward Iran, give due respect to the Iranian nation and government, and adhere to their commitments for any improvement of relations between the two countries".
Furthermore, Ahmadinejad referred that Washington's unilaterally cut relations with Tehran three decades ago and embarked on hatching plots against the Islamic Republic ever since despite America's commitment to the Article I of the Algiers Accord which prohibits the US from any political or military interference in Iran's internal affairs.

Iranian President affirmed Iran's approach to having constructive relations with other countries, further stressing on Iran's historical approach for peace.
On the level of the Western sanctions imposed on Iran, President Ahmadinejad told the PBS Channel that his country has turned the sanctions into opportunities, in order to accelerate its progress in many fields.

On another level, during a meeting with senior editors and managers of the US media on Friday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad confirmed, "We need 20 percent enriched fuel for Tehran's Researched Reactor [to produce radio-medicines] to treat 800,000 patients".
"If the international Atomic Energy Agency or potential suppliers guarantee that they will provide the fuel for the reactor, we will cease to enrich uranium to 20%", he added.

In this context, President Ahmadinejad clarified that Iran decided to enrich uranium to 20% after Western potential suppliers failed to abide by their commitment to provide the country with the fuel needed for medical purposes.
Iranian President's meetings come amid his visit to New York for the 66th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, during which he delivered a speech on the Iranian stance regarding the latest international developments.
