Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in New York to attend the United Nation General Assembly meeting.

Upon his arrival in New York Monday night, President Ahmadinejad told reporters at John F. Kennedy international Airport that the UN must pursue ways to strengthen the identity and prestige of nations and meet their demands, Iranian Republic News Agency reported.
"The UN must observe the least", he added.

Furthermore, Ahmadinejad affirmed that the UN is currently under control of the countries that won the World War II, noting that other UN member states require a US visa to come to the UN, while the US is also a UN member.
In this context, he indicated, "There must be a situation that all countries could freely visit the UN and pursue their rights at its meetings".

During his visit to the US, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will also take part in several press conferences and meetings with Iranian nationals, university students and professors, in addition to talks with international officials.
