"Israeli" occupation army's Command and Staff College commander, General Noam Tibon, admitted recently that "Facebook is more up-to-date than any intelligence report", the "Israel Defense" website reported.

The website added that although there has been no mentioning by "Israeli" officials, but the "Israeli" intelligence bodies are boosting collection activity on social networking websites, where "Israeli" intelligence personnel have been allocated to track websites such as "Facebook" and "Twitter".
Since the wave of the popular Arab Spring Uprising, which was developed mainly by means of internet and facebook, the "Israeli" intelligence's focus is now the social networking websites.

On this level, the "Israeli" intelligence refer that on the Nakba (catastrophe) day on May 15, they were aware that some protests were organized by social websites, but the "Israeli" enemy did not expect a large number of protesters to actually break in the borders of the occupied territories from Lebanon and the Golan Heights. Since then, the "Israeli" intelligence has gathered required manpower to follow up any event organized on any of the social networking websites.

"Israel Defense" website quoted Gadi Aviran, former major in the intelligence corps and the founder of internet intelligence company Terrogence, "In view of heavy criticism over what was perceived as the "Israeli" security forces' muddled response to the "Nakba Day" events, and the tons of information that has been flowing on the Net beforehand, official intelligence layouts are now in an accelerated process of quick-learn and engagement with these sources of information".
"Solid information on armies is hard to come by on the social networks, but information on terrorist groups or elements that create government instability is very common. Real time information from the Web on the upheaval in Egypt was important for "Israeli" intelligence no less than information on the procurement of new aircraft", Aviran added.

On another hand, former Head of "Israeli" security Shin Bet, Yuval Diskin, who left his post exactly on Nakba Day, referred to the social networks' status in the world of intelligence, stating, "You see hundreds and thousands of people clicking "like" on Facebook to a march being organized, but we don't have an algorithm to show how many will actually join the march".
On his part, Former Senior Member of the "Israeli" army intelligence corps, Jacques Neriah, "Today many people realize that social networking offers tantalizing clues to the intelligence puzzle [...]. The social protests in the Arab world were given a powerful push on the internet and make many headlines. [...] In African and the Arab world, if one person has access to information from a website, then it spreads quickly to others in carious means".

In light of the technological development, and huge wave of popular activities being organized on the internet, especially on social networking websites, those pages could possibly become a battlefield for "cyber warfare".
