Agriculture Minister, Hussein Hajj Hassan, reiterated the government's wish for a sovereign Lebanon free of occupation albeit, anti-American in scope and perspective. The Minister's utterance came during a Bekaa Iftar annual banquet given in honor of graduating Hizbullah University students.

The Minister spoke about a major crisis gripping the west in general and Americans in particular with American public debt hitting the all-high mark of 14 trillion dollars. He attributed the current famine in Somalia to faulty American politics and lashed out at Arab over-spending on arms not earmarked for attacking "Israel".

On the divine victory of 2006, Minister Hajj Hassan said it was a big defeat for US policies in Lebanon with the net result that his party, the Lebanese Military and people came up on top.

Furthermore, he described Mikati's offshore gas policy as a major breakthrough and put the blame on previous governments in terms of their failure to exploit offshore natural resources. Hajj Hassan told the Hariri camp that his party did not wait for their green light to achieve victory on "Israel" and the Americans on 2006 and that Hariri's understanding of sovereignty and dignity equals total subservience to American policy.

He said that the Hariri camp needs to revise its public debt inventory and how they submerged the country into year-long economic decline.
