Iran: Indictment to Prevent Lebanon’s Gov’t

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says the indictment of the US-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) aims to prevent the formation of the new Lebanese government.

"The indictment is issued to affect the situation in Lebanon. Those who are following up the court's ruling with political objectives have targeted Lebanon's solidarity. They do not want the Lebanese government to continue its works," Mehmanparast said at his weekly press conference.

He noted that "any acts aimed at interfering in Lebanon's domestic affairs, creating sedition and targeting the unity of Lebanon are all in line with the interests of "Israel"."
