Bahraini al-Wifaq: Sentences against Political Opposition Figures in Conflict with Call for Dialogue

Al-Wifaq Bahraini Association issued a statement in which it said that issuing life imprisonment sentences against political figures and detained human rights activists is contradictory to the call for national dialogue. The Association said that the society was shocked to hear the sentences, especially as these contradict with the call for talks.

"The sentences of which some reached life imprisonment will have effect on the country's stability, as these imply the political crisis is perpetual, unless a quick and effective solution is found," said the statement, adding "In this context, the verdicts started a turmoil of questions among the Bahraini society, and increased political and security tension that has been dominating over the country over the past four months.
