Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri decried Feltman's intervention in the Lebanese affairs. "As the Americans are trying to involve Lebanon in negative actions against Syria, the stability of the Syrian position is on one hand and the rest of the details are in the other hand." Berri said.

Assafir newspaper reported on Monday that Berri "was sure of the correctness of his decision not to welcome the U.S. Secretary of State Assistant Jeffrey Feltman, after reading the statement on the substance of his visit to Lebanon," expressing his "outrage at the great blatant interference of Feltman in the Lebanese internal affairs by linking the future of the position from the next government to the nature of its composition and the content of the ministerial statement."

Moreover, Berri noted that "by coming to Beirut, Feltman also wanted to express primarily the concern of his country, to what had happened in Maroun al-Ras, and its implications on the Israeli security, ignoring what the peaceful civilian demonstrators have suffered on the borders from Israeli brutal aggression that led to a number of the martyrs and the wounded."
"Where are Feltman and his administration from human rights which they sing out in their statements and positions?" Berri asked.
