The Intelligence Directorate of the Lebanese Army has arrested a Lebanese man on suspicion of spying for "Israel" three days ago, As-Safir Lebanese daily quoted sources.
The sources said Andrea A. R., who hails from the southern village of Qlaiaa, was arrested in south Lebanon Saturday, adding that the suspect was taken to the Lebanese Army barracks in the southern port city of Sidon for interrogation. Also, the sources reported Andrea is in his fifties, and is a relative of the notorious spy Jerjes Al Hasbani who fled from Lebanon to the occupied Palestinian Territories in 2000 following the Liberation of South Lebanon. Al Hasbani had played a major security role during the "Israeli" occupation of South Lebanon.
Also, the same sources explained "The intelligence tracked Andrea's communication with Jerjes, as well as with other people from the occupied Palestinian territories (OPT)".
Furthermore, the sources added that Andrea has relatives residing in the OPT, and that he was involved in drug trafficking earlier.
In the same context, the source noted "even though Andrea's communication with the enemy was proved by evidence, he insisted during the investigations that no such thing had happened and denied the accusations, which implies he is highly trained to face investigations."
