A Syrian official source said "More than one million short text messages (sms) were sent to Syrians from a foreign source, the majority of these from "Israel". The messages called on the Syrians to use mosques to start riot, this while the (Syrian) security forces continue to uncover stockpiles of weapons that were smuggled across the borders as well as high-tech communication devices in Daraa (district- South of Syria). In addition the security forces also arrested a number of criminals and referred them to Justice.

Moreover, the Syrian TV broadcast photos of arms, munitions and money that were stacked
by armed gangs in the Omari mosque in Daraa. Also, a video showed weapons among which were guns, Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and huge sums of money.
On a related note, reporters and photographers requested the security forces to protect them especially after they received threats via sms messages warning them from reporting the crimes taking place against civilians in Daraa.

The sources also pointed out that "Foreign parties continue to set lies on the situation in Daraa, claiming that massacres are taking place inside the city in order to provoke the citizens, but on the contrary the people have been cooperative with the security forces in pursuing the armed gangs and arresting them.

Also, the source added that the citizens of Daraa are reporting the hiding places of these armed gangs who have occupied several homes by force and are snipping civilians.
