Gul Arrives in Tehran, Launches Bilateral Talks with Iranian Counterpart

The Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived in Tehran on Sunday night for his four-day official visit, along with a delegation of some 300 Turkish investors and businessmen.

Upon arriving at the airport, President Gul was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, reported IRNA news agency.

The Turkish President's official meeting started on Monday morning with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, where both sides discussed bilateral issues, on the political, cultural, investment, and economic levels.

At the end of their meeting, both Presidents held a press conference in which they assured both countries' will to develop bilateral relations, in addition to signing bilateral agreements on various levels.

President Ahmadinejad considered that Gul's visit is an important step to enhance bilateral relations, stressing that Turkey's success represents a success to Iran, stating there are no restrictions regarding developing the Turkish-Iranian relations.

Iranian President announced that the commerce cooperation between Iran and Turkey has exceeded $10 million, confirming they are working on increasing it till $30 million.

It is expected that during the Turkish President's visit to Iran, both countries would form a Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.
