Bin Jassem and Davutoglu Leave Beirut Due to Saudi Reservations
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani left Beirut on Thursday at 4:05 am heading to Qatar, while Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu left Beirut on Thursday at 4:30 am heading to Turkey.
Before leaving Beirut Qatari Prime Minister and Turkish Foreign Minister issued the following press statement:
"According to the tripartite meeting between Prince Sheikh Hamad bin khalifeh al Thani, Syrian President Bashar Assad and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan where they agreed to send Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Beirut to continue efforts with the Lebanese sides based on Saudi-Syrian paper. During these efforts, a new memo that takes into consideration the political and legal requirements to solve the Lebanese crisis was written, on basis of the Saudi-Syrian memo."
The statement added that during Hamad and Davutoglu's initiative and due to some reservations they decided to stop their efforts in Lebanon at this time and leave Beirut for more consultations with their leaderships".
