MP Jumblatt Says All Stances Should Meet National Interests, Hopes Success of Qatari-Turkish Efforts

Head of Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt questioned the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL) credibility in light of recordings and investigation information leaks.

Jumblatt said that Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare's request to open an investigation over this issue is not enough.

Furthermore, MP Walid Jumblatt reminded of his warnings from the political exploitation of the STL, after the Der Spiegel's published article, in addition to other successive Media leaks.

Jumblatt referred he warned of these exploitations before his party's conciliation with Hizbullah, taking a position of defending the resistance and refusing to put Lebanon in an international dilemma, that would sabotage its [Lebanon] unity, stability and resistance, especially after the resistance's July 2006 victory.

On the level of internal political level, Jumblatt addressed all journalistic analysis of Wednesday's journals, considering the current situation as highly sensitive, and requires responsible stances that exceed political evaluations.

Head of the Democratic Gathering Jumblatt referred that all stances stated should aim at achieving national interests, and contribute in leading Lebanon out of its deep crisis.

On another hand, MP Walid Jumblatt hoped the success of the Qatari-Turkish efforts that came complimentary to the Arab efforts.

Jumblatt also stated dialogue remains to be the only choice into solving the current problems, and into escaping the current crisis.
