Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said Prime Minister Saad Hariri erred in not announcing his commitment to the terms of the Syria-Saudi agreement. He assured that the Opposition's decision that the pre-indictment phase would differ from the post-indictment phase went into effect as of yesterday afternoon."

In an interview with As-Safir daily, Berri said that "the opposition has mourned the death of the Saudi-Syrian compromise;" noting that "new negotiations should be launched to settle on a new compromise."

Speaker Nabih Berri condemned March 14 coalition statements (and PSP leader's indirect implication) that he said implied that Prime Minister Saad Hariri is the only Sunni representative for the premiership. He asked "Does Omar Karami, who was appointed as the country's premier several times in the past, not represent the Sunnis in Lebanon?"

Berri commented on the "Truthleaks" audio Al Jadeed TV broadcast over the weekend, ridiculing Hariri's words. The Speaker pointed out that "this clearly demonstrated that he (Hariri) had no idea about the nature of the relationship between me and the martyred PM Rafiq Hariri."
Former PM Saad Hariri during one of the leaks accused Parliament Speaker Berri of betraying his father.

On Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Shami's Monday summoning of US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly, Berri said that he "wonders at the behavior of the US diplomat who expressed irritation upon being summoned for interfering in Lebanese affairs, and questioned if the FM has the right to do that in a caretaker government!"
Connelly Sunday visited MP Nicolas Fattouch in an attempt to assure his support to Hariri prior the parliamentary consultations.

When asked to respond to those questioning why Shami does not summon Damascus and Tehran's ambassadors as he did Connelly, Berri said "I dare anyone to prove that Syrian and Iranian ambassadors to Lebanon are interfering in the country's domestic affairs."
