Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem confirmed that there is no excuse for the French government to have George Abdullah stay in custody, in order to run away from its direct political responsibility in this issue.

Sheikh Qassem referred that the Lebanese citizen detained in France, George Abdullah, has finished his sentence since 1999, but stayed in prison due to a French Justice Ministry's request in several stages, and therefore his case became political.

Sheikh Naim Qassem received Tuesday a delegation from the international campaign to free George Abdullah; a campaign led by the prisoner's brother, Joseph Abdullah.

During this meeting, Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General praised everyone participating in the campaign to free George, calling upon the French government to stop violating his human rights.

Furthermore, Sheikh Naim urged the Lebanese government to adopt this case especially that the prisoner is Lebanese, referring to the special relations between Lebanon and France which could help in this matter.

George Abdullah is a Lebanese army member, who had resistance stances defending the Lebanese and Palestinian rights against the "Israeli" aggressions.
