MP Nkoula: Leaks of Indictment Content Confirms STL Politicization

Change and Reform Parliamentary Bloc MP Nabil Nkoula, confirmed that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL) General Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare's statement stands as evidence for the politicization of the STL.

Belemare stated that accusations of the politicization of STL "are made by people who may fear the outcome of the tribunal's decision".

In a TV interview, Nkoula added that Bellemare's statement confirms what has been spoken of, regarding political interference, referring that Bellemare is incompetent in leading investigations, or deciding on the indictment.

In this context, MP Nabil Nkoula referred to the leaks mentioning that the indictment will accuse Hizbullah members, saying that this is evidence that the tribunal is politicized.

Nabil Nkoula referred that Hizbullah is the resistance party which defeated the "Israeli" enemy, and was referred to as a liberating movement.

Change and Reform Bloc MP added that this resistance has been accused for the last four months due to media outlets' leaks about the STL indictment.

Furthermore, MP Nabil Nkoula believed that the STL established to investigate late PM Rafiq Hariri's assassination is not based on credibility.

Nkoula referred when the STL was established, people had to cope with it, yet with leaks of accusing Syria, and the arrests of the four officers came to light, the STL was then proved to be politicized.
