Head of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) MP Walid Jumblatt expressed his hopes that the false witnesses' issue be resolved in the ministerial council session to be held today, Wednesday.

He favored avoiding vote over the issue, especially with the Syrian-Saudi efforts still continuing.

Jumblatt, in a statement to As-Safir newspaper, said "He does not mind referring the false witnesses' file to the Justice Council." Jumblatt explained that the Syrian-Saudi efforts are still ongoing, and should be given a full chance. PSP leader warned of the dangerous ambiance which paves the way for strife, calling on all the parties to being prudent and careful.

He underscored that sectarian strife serves only the American-"Israeli" scheme that aims at fragmenting the region.

On another note, the paper reported that Jumblatt will head to Damascus on a private visit Wednesday where he will meet Maj. Gen. Mohammed Nassif and Maj. Gen. Hikmat Shehabi.
It said Jumblatt on Saturday will receive Iran's ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Rokn Abadi in Mukhtara.

As-Safir also said Abadi will hand Jumblat an official invitation to visit Tehran.
