Hassan Khalil: indictment Aims at Widening Internal Rift
Political Advisor of Parliament Speaker Ali Hassan Khalil warned that "The indictment which is expected to be issued soon aims at widening the internal rift in Lebanon and create confusion."
The MP underscored "the need to have a logical and open minded approach to all pending matters and away from narrow calculations, because the scheme prepared for Lebanon is far more dangerous than some people assume."
Speaking in ceremony organized by Amal on the occasion of Ashura, he added "The opposition's call for referring the false witnesses file to the Justice Council is not designed to register a point against any side."
Khalil also assured that the opposition wants to correct the path of justice and avoid any attempt to politicize the tribunal because if this happens then the rift between the Lebanese will widen further."
MP Khalil pointed out that "The testimonies of the false witnesses have caused the death of hundreds of Lebanese."
Commenting on the Saudi-Syrian initiative, Khalil said "Upon the given we have, we say that the US is exerting pressure in order to hamper any attempt to reach a settlement sponsored by Saudi Arabia." He added "This issue necessitates supporting the Arab effort and saving time so that the settlement would succeed."
On another note, Khalil called on all political factions to being aware on the internal level, and suggested that the indictment could give "Israel" an opportunity to creep into Lebanon and provoke sectarian strife among the Lebanese.
