As-Safir: Opposition Rejects Suleiman Proposal on False Witnesses’ Issue
Local Editor
President Michel Suleiman proposed what he considered as a "middle ground solution" to the issue of "false witnesses," suggesting that the cabinet transfer the "false witnesses" file to regular judicial bodies, after which the relevant judge would order that the matter be dealt with by the Justice Council.
According to the Lebanese Daily As-Safir, the opposition rejected Suleiman's proposal and believed that it would only stall the "false witnesses" issue. Furthermore, the opposition parties said their ministers will withdraw from any governmental session in case there will be no voting on the issue.
