Sayyed Khamenei Stresses Importance of Islamic Unity

The Islamic unity is an important issue and the disagreements between the Sunni and Shia Muslims should be reduced, Sayyed Khamenei said at a meeting with the hajj officials on Monday.

"The vanguards of the Islamic Revolution, even before the victory of the revolution, have been the standard-bearers of Islamic unity," Imam Khamenei said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyed Khamenei thanked the hajj officials for their efforts, adding that some positive steps have been taken but the shortcomings should not be ignored.

The annual gathering of Muslims in Mecca for the hajj pilgrimage occurred this year in the middle of November according to the Islamic lunar calendar.
