Head of Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt criticized the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL) General Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare for the way he dealt with the leaks of the STL concerning the indictment.

In this context, Jumblatt called upon the Lebanese government to denounce the indictment before its issuance.

In an interview with Sharq Al Awsat newspaper, Jumblatt stressed on the importance of adopting measures in Lebanon to confront the negative repercussions that could sabotage Lebanon's stability.

On another level, MP Jumblatt noticed that the STL General Prosecutor is confused and embarrassed, referring to the Tribunal which is supposed to be just yet leaks suspicious information, starting with Der Spiegel report, and reaching the recent CBC report.

Answering a question regarding whether Lebanon should wait for the issuance of the indictment to adopt its denouncement, Jumblatt said, "On the contrary, the work has been taking place through the Saudi-Syrian initiative, a scenario that disrupts the biggest amount possible of the indictment's repercussions before its issuance".

Head of Democratic Gathering said that the scenario should be played in Lebanon, because the Lebanese are able to shut down any internal repercussions, yet the STL cannot be canceled, for it's an international decision that has become part of reality.
