Fayyad: Majority of Lebanese Do Not Trust International Investigation, Do Not Want it
Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Ali Fayyad assured that American reactions as well as the statement of UN Secretary General depute Terry Roed Larsen on the development Lebanon has been witnessing this week is a blatant proof that neither the truth nor justice are the motives or aims of these people, but targeting the resistance and its allies.
Fayyad's statement came during his tour to the Southern villages Hasbani and Arkoub, where he checked on the development and needs of the region.
In a statement he disclosed in Meis Al Jabal southern village, MP Fayyad stressed that the experience of Arab people with International justice has been a failure in the different causes in the region, whether related to Lebanon, Palestine, or Iraq.
Fayyad expressed his frustration on how some wagered on international justice -concerning the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL)- and deemed it as impartial and honest, neglecting the earlier experiences throughout history that prove it as politicized and bias.
Fayyad added that the majority of the Lebanese people do not trust the International investigation, and do not want it. This, according to Fayyad is what most political figures and leaders express and reflect in the country. He noted that the STL expressES the international will imposed on the majority of the Lebanese people, and he called for the reconsideration of this tribunal according to democratic, constitutional, legal, and sovereign norms.
Furthermore, Fayyad pointed out that the tribunal represents the international will that targets the resistance, unlike what is being said, that the tribunal protects political diversity. Fayyad said that the tribunal actually targets diversity in Lebanon.
