Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman finished his short and sudden visit to Lebanon. In a press conference he held in the Beirut International Airport, he conveyed a message from US President Barack Obama to Lebanese President Michel Suleiman in which he assured US commitment to a stable, secure, independent and sovereign Lebanon.

Feltman reiterated Washington's support to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. He said the US will keep its support to the Lebanese Army.

As for the visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon, Feltman said this is up to the Lebanese to evaluate.

Feltman during his visit, met with head of the progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt, and discussed the latest developments with Head of Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea in a phone call.
