Clinton Warns UK over Defense Cuts, Says it Affects NATO

After the British Coalition Government determined to cut Ministry of Defense spending, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed concern, stating that such cuts could threaten the capabilities of the NATO.
Clinton's concerns were triggered out of fear that the US's defense status would be jeopardized if an ally is not committed to their common defense, especially in the NATO.
On the other hand, US Defense Minister Robert Gates said, "My worry is that the more our allies cut their capabilities, the more people will look to the Unites States to cover gaps".
According to London-based The Independent, The British Royal Air Force (RAF) is one of the three services that are to face the biggest cuts as a result of the Strategic Defense and Security Review.
The cuts that are to be set for the Minister of Defense are to be between 7% and 9%, which is lower that was expected, and the public announcement of the cuts will take place next week in Downing Street.
The Independent also reported that Downing Street maintained Thursday night Britain's commitment to common defense contributions in NATO.
