May Al Khansa: Judiciary has the Right to Investigate False Testimonies before Indictment Issuance

President of the Beirut-based International Coalition against Impunity, Lawyer May Al Khansa revealed that on the legal level, false witnesses didn't only present false testimonies, but also presented testimonies that were enough to sabotage national unity and spread incitements.
Al Khansa considered that this file should have been handed out to the judicial council because false testimonies almost destroyed the country, adding that there were some events that occurred as a result of these false testimonies, damaging the national unity.
Lawyer Al Khansa stressed that it is legally wrong to say that investigating with false witnesses cannot take place until after the indictment is issued, referring that the judge is capable of seizing them before any indictment.
May Al Khansa affirmed that stalling this file will not do any good, adding that justice will not be obstructed and the crime will never die throughout the years.
