Supreme Leader recalls 30-year campaign against US dominance

Tehran - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Iran has emerged successfully in its 30-year campaign against hegemonic powers in the international relations.
In a meeting with Iranian ambassadors abroad, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Foreign Ministry is expected to uphold national interest which is in line with long-term strategy of the Islamic Revolution and the 20-Year Vision Plan for Economic, Social and Cultural Development (2005-2025).
The Supreme Leader said that the principles of the Islamic Revolution are inseparable from the national interest and national identity and the major issues in foreign policy should be viewed from this perspective.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Islam aims to lead the mankind to prosperity and the Islamic Revolution has made planning for political, economic, social and cultural development upon the recommendations of Islam.
"So, the Iranian diplomacy has rejected the oppression in the international relations and advocates international peace and prosperity for all nations. That`s why there is a challenge between Iran and the global arrogance," the Supreme Leader said.
He said that the hegemonic powers regard the international relations as a chess play, expecting other nations to play role of pawns and fall victims whenever the big powers require them to do so.
"We never accept the hegemonic order. Of course, we don`t have the ambition of domineering. We never yield to the global arrogance and consider opposition to the hegemonic powers as the agenda of the Iranian diplomacy."
The Supreme Leader pointed to the US propaganda campaign against Iran its branding Iran as a rogue state and said that Washington has attempted to establish a global dictatorship to trample upon rights of other nations.
"In fact, the US has revolted against the international community and is describing Iran as a rouge state for its objection to US hegemonic objectives," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader said that the Iranian nation has the capability of overcoming the conspiracies just like what it did during the US-backed imposed war.
"The Iranian nation came up victoriously from the eight-year imposed war despite the fact that both the Eastern and Western powers backed the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Iran has made progress in science and technology and has become stronger in economic, political and social fields which heralds victory in the challenge with the hegemonic powers," he said.
The Supreme Leader cited the example of Iranian ability to produce nuclear energy and said that such a success was made while the influential countries had imposed sanctions on Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the US has suffered setback in Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan and its plans for the Middle East have been deadlocked.
"So, Iran will become victorious in its campaign against the US oppression in light of the experience it acquired during the past three decades."
Prior to the Supreme Leader`s remarks, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki presented a report on performance of the ministry.
He said that the Foreign Ministry has launched diplomatic campaign to introduce Iran`s rights to produce nuclear energy and enlighten the world public opinion about the issue so that the enemies could not deny Iranian nuclear rights.
