The Guardian: US Terror Alert over Attacks, Politically Motivated
Local Editor
According to the Guardian newspaper, Senior Pakistani diplomats, in addition to European intelligence officials, the US terror alert issued this week warning of a terrorist Al Qaida attack in Western Europe was politically motivated instead of being based on credible information.
Although the alert was of a vague US side, Britain and France raised their overseas alert levels, and according to Wajid Shamsul Hassan, Pakistani high commissioner to Britain, the warning was an attempt to justify recent US attack on Pakistan.
Hassan considered that the US President Obama was playing politics in his threat alert, where he stressed that if the US was to have information about these terror attacks and terrorists it claims, the Pakistani officials should be aware of in order to pursue them as well.
"Such reports are a mixture of frustrations, ineptitude and lack of appreciation of ground realities. Any attempt to infringe the sovereignty of Pakistan would not bring about stability in Afghanistan, which is presumably the primary objective of the American and NATO forces", Hasan said.
The terrorist plot which the US pointed out was mainly revolving around Britain, France and Germany, where after that, the European intelligence pointed out the finger on the US, saying those claims were nonsensical.
Germany's Interior Minister, Thomas de Maizière, expressed skepticism over the US terror alerts, also stating that there was no sign of any attack on Germany.
Those US alerts were said to cover up for further US intentions to bomb Pakistan.
It rather seemed that the US was annoyed by the public reaction of the drone strike conducted against Pakistan, which mainly raised European officials' questions, and therefore driving Washington into claiming terror alerts against European countries.
