Syrian President Bashar Assad expressed his concerns over the current situation in Lebanon, confirming in an interview with TRT Arabic-language Turkish TV that the Syrian arrest warrants issued against 33 Lebanese, Arab, and foreign figures over fabricating false witnesses are strictly judicial and have no political meaning.

Concerning the Lebanese situation after the recent escalations, in addition to the Special Tribunal to Lebanon's indictment, President Bashar Assad said that the situation in Lebanon is not soothing, especially in light of the foreign interference that has been taking place during the recent years.

Regarding the judicial arrest warrants issued by the Syrian Judiciary over the false witnesses issue, Syrian President said, "There is a lawsuit raised by General Jamil As-Sayyed in the Syrian Judiciary since more than a year; these warrants are strictly judicial and have no political meaning or interpretation".

President Assad added that there are some sides in Lebanon who always exploit situations and adopt them as political issues, by that using their stances to deteriorate the relations with Syria.

In response to a question concerning Syria's support of the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, Syrian President said, "As long as there are occupied lands and violated sovereignties (...), we will stick to this path. We don't have tens of choices, that is why we decided to stick to this choice, not because we are in favor of war and fighting (...), but would there be any other choice if international juristic resolutions are not implemented, and ethics were nowhere to be found in international policies?"

President Assad referred that if the logic of power is to take over the world, then there will be no other choice but that of the resistance.

Speaking of a Western military attack on Iran over its nuclear program, Syrian President excluded any attack, where he said that logically any attack would lead to further crises that would affect not only the region but the whole world.

President Assad further added that all western stances on the Iranian issue are part of a psychological war launched against the region, referring that Syria went through the same stage after the US invasion of Iraq in the year 2003.

Syrian President also commented on the situation in Iraq, where he said that the major concern in Iraq is the sectarian issue, where sectarian and racial discriminations have become inevitable, further blaming the US occupation, which did not support any Iraqi political operation.

Stepping into the Palestinian issue, precisely the Palestinian-"Israeli" direct negotiations, President Bashar Assad expressed that he has no expectations concerning these negotiations.

Bashar Assad added that the negotiations' major point revolves around the "Israeli" settlements and Judaization of Al Quds (Jerusalem), neglecting the Palestinians' right to return.

Syrian President condemned "Israel", expressing that one cannot be a man of peace if he were a criminal, reminding of the "Israeli" war on Gaza and the heartless assault on thousands of Palestinians.

President Assad also referred to the "Israeli" brutal attack on the Freedom Flotilla, in addition to "Israel's" aggressions on Lebanon and previous ones on Syria, criticizing its attempts to hold so-called "peace talks".

Syrian President Bashar Assad said that there is but a slight difference between the US President Barak Obama's policies and the previous ones, stating that as long as the US is still committed to "Israel's" security, there will be no change.
