Lebanese President Michel Suleiman confirmed that Lebanon is still looking forward to forming a just and broad settlement in the Middle East at all levels, on the basis of the Madrid conference, International legitimacy decisions, and the Arab Peace initiative.

On the other hand, Suleiman stressed that he would not accept any resolution of the Middle East crisis if it occurred in a way contradicting Lebanon's national interests, first of which is Lebanon's right to refuse any kind of Palestinian refugee settling in Lebanon.

In a statement he presented in front of the UN Security Council (UNSC), President Suleiman called upon the International Community and the SC to pressure the Zionist entity to withdraw from all Lebanese territories without any condition, implementing UN resolutions, last of which is resolution 1701.

President Suleiman considered that the "Israel's" violations in threatening Lebanon and installing espionage networks, recruiting agents in different Lebanese sectors, need to be stopped by a strict international community stance.

Lebanese President further stressed that Lebanon should always respect the UNIFIL mission in peace keeping, in coordination with the Lebanese army, with respect to the rules of engagement agreed upon.

Suleiman also added that Lebanon should gather all its national abilities in order to defend its sovereignty, independence, to protect its lands, water, and what it has of offshore resources.

Michel Suleiman stressed on the importance of a UNSC actual survey to find out the reasons of the negative image adopted by most of the impoverished or occupied nations, regarding distrusting the UNSC in committing to its resolutions or implementing them at double standards.

According to President Suleiman, "Israel" on one hand appears to be a state above the law, while the UN seems to be an incompetent and powerless organization.

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman reaffirmed that Lebanon aims at becoming an international center for dialogue of religions and cultures, where Lebanon has a unique experience in coexistence, and actual participation of all sects in the government.
