Qahwaji: Army Efforts Focused on Fortifying Lebanon in Confronting “Israel”

According to Al Diyar newspaper, the meeting held Wednesday between Lebanese Army Chief, Jean Qahwaji and the National Media Council, led by Abed Al Hadi Mahfouz, held discussions local issues, especially peace, in addition to media issues.
On his behalf, General Qahwaji hoped that political stances would take into consideration the local stability needs, so that people would not become worried about these issues, which mainly are exaggerated through tough stances.
The Daily stated that during the meeting, Qahwaji confirmed that the absolute army priority is to protect civil peace, national unity, in addition to defending the country in the face of "Israeli" threats.
Qahwaji believed that his military army institution has gained the Lebanese people's trust, which leads to excluding any political argument from any of its stances, so it would not affect the army's initial duty.
"The army efforts are focused on fortifying Lebanon in confronting "Israel" and not reacting to the logic of intimidation or to "Israeli" threats", Lebanese Army Chief stated, adding that stability in Lebanon achieved by the army, people, and resistance equation, is not a factor for the enemy to disregard.
Jean Qahwaji commented on media advertisements, saying that they are promoting that war is very soon, yet on the contrary, the situation is more complicated than this.
Qahwaji stated that the enemy is not ready for launching any war against Lebanon, although the Lebanese army is ready and prepared for this possibility.
Lebanese Army chief affirmed his army's national patriotic cooperation with the resistance, in addition to the coordination with the UNIFIL, which has spread a sense of stability in the country.
