Former MP Nasser Qandil praised the courageous stances PM Saad Hariri announced and their role in establishing stability.

Qandil hoped, "Leaders would be capable of embracing this atmosphere with agreements that would turn this into a stable situation, especially with this sense of responsibility and concern, particularly present in the resistance leader Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and the positive response he received from PM Hariri, accompanied with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and leader Walid Jumblatt's efforts."

In a press conference he held in his office, Qandil considered, "This holiday gift that the Lebanese received needs to be secured," indicating, "Hope has emerged with the determination of false witnesses as a starting point in creating a political agreement that fortifies the field against the dangers of making use of the international tribunal."

"The Lebanese, with their relationship with Syria have paid prices that cannot be compared to the prices the Lebanese would pay if this absurd situation continues," he said.

Qandil considered that PM Hariri's statement that the false witnesses are the reason behind misleading the investigation, ruining the relation between Lebanon and Syria, pointing false accusations at Syria and causing serious repercussions on Lebanon, forms an important beginning for reaching a decision in tracking all those who caused years of trouble.

The Former MP stressed on the importance of an effective tracing to the false witnesses, especially after Hariri's statement.

On the other hand, Qandil thanked Syrian President Bashar Assad for his strenuous efforts to spread the pacification atmosphere in the country.

In the same context, Qandil specified an "urgent agenda" that Sayyed Nasrallah and PM Hariri should discuss. This agenda consisted of two parts that according to Qandil, their interaction would lead to an explosion.

"The first is the sectarian enticements, and the second is the Arab-"Israeli" conflict, as Lebanon cannot cover up the schemes of bringing down the right to return and the future of Al Quds (Jerusalem)," he added.

Furthermore, he considered, "PM Hariri's suspension of discussions over the arms, and holding on to and defending the resistance arms at this historical moment, is capable of breaking down some Lebanese schemes."
