Lebanese Minister of state Adnan Sayyed Hussein referred that the Ministerial Council is able to follow up with the false witnesses file in consecutive meetings, considering that the government is responsible for following up with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), and the witnesses.
In an interview with Annour Radio, Minister Sayyed Hussein clarified that if the Ministerial Council followed up this issue, that doesn't mean that it would replace the tribunal.
Minister of State stressed that the unity and sovereignty of Lebanon is more important than any decision adopted, adding that the logic of sovereignty defeats any foreign threat against Lebanon.
Concerning the face witnesses' issue, Minister Sayyed Hussein confirmed that it would also be followed up by the Ministerial Council, urging to take all possible measures before the STL indictment is issued, in order to protect Lebanon.
In this context, Sayyed Hussein said that false witnesses' testimonies lead us to wonder about the reason of such false claims, calling for a wide investigation in this issue.
Sayyed Hussein further affirmed that the Ministerial Council does not need any approval to follow up this file, for its prior duty is to attain the country's security.
