President Suleiman: Army Armament, Resistance’s Preparations, Elements for Defense Strategy

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman called for army armament especially after the Odaisseh clashes, saying, "With resistance's preparations and the people's embracement, along with the army armament, a defense strategy that depends on all the country elements can be established."
"Army armament requires friendly countries' aids to strengthen the army without conditions," he added.
President Suleiman's stances came in a speech he delivered during a fast breaking ceremony he held in Baabda in presence of groups of Clerics, Ministers, Parliament Members, and political party representatives.
Suleiman commented on Burj Abi Haidar's Tuesday clashes saying, "Nothing should drive citizens towards sectarian seduction, and the country should not allow such incidents to occur again. In addition to the political responsibility, the security forces should seek to strictly impose security, because fear does not build a state. Therefore, let's strengthen trust among each other and among ourselves."
On the Palestinian refugees' issue, President Suleiman pointed out, "The Parliament was able to approve on several important laws, including the law related to Palestinian refugees. It is time for the refugee's relation with the state and people to be good and peaceful, and this requires ensuring necessities different from the settlement issue."
"Here, we should consider the international community's responsibility in the field of proving refugees with humanitarian and daily life needs first through the UNRWA, and second by finding a solution the Middle East and Palestinian cause that emphasizes the right of return. This is according to the Madrid conference and the Arab peace initiative. Moreover, Lebanon will not approve on any solution if it happens without it or that contradicts with its benefits", the Lebanese President said.
In conclusion, the Lebanese President emphasized that if the Lebanese agreed that Lebanon is a country for all its citizens, it is time that they consider civil peace a permanent Lebanese situation guaranteed by the Lebanese agreement, and peaceful dialogue.
