A poll conducted on behalf of the French daily Liberation, showed that French President Nicolas Sarkozy's popularity has dropped since he took office in the year 2007.
The poll shows that only 34% of the public approve his performance, while 55% express their desire that one of Sarkozy's left-wing opponents would become next President of France.
Sarkozy attempted to boost his own public image by published "racist laws", for example claiming immigration for his country's crime, vowing to strop some foreign "criminals" of their French nationality.
French President's decision to deport some 700 gypsies and immigrants has driven an accusation towards the government as "state racism", which received loads of criticism.
In an editorial in the French Le Monde newspaper, former PM Dominique de Villepin, who also would be Sarkozy's opponent in the 2012 elections, said, "There is today a stain of shame on our flag", in reference to Sarkozy's racist law.
